Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital was established in 1919, the result of community efforts to establish a general acute care facility for Northwest Alabama. The facility is named in memory of Eliza, the daughter of Captain Alexander and Camilla Coffee, whose generous donation contributed toward the purchase of the first building used as ECM Hospital. Shoals Hospital was founded in 1968 by a group of physicians dedicated to improving health care services for the residents of Colbert County. That dedication is still evident today as our team of health care professionals strives to provide the best possible medical care to our patients on a daily basis.
