Our Commitment

And, our employees recognize their roles and responsibilities beyond the walls of our hospital. Over the past five years, we have raised and contributed more than $500,000 to charitable and health care organizations such as The United Way, American Heart Association and American Cancer
Society.

ECM's employees are caring people who feel called to our work because of the differences we are able to make in the lives of others. Our focus is the patient; our commitment is compassionate care; our devotion is unwavering.

ECM is a not-for-profit hospital established through the city of Florence and Lauderdale County. The Hospital is self-supporting and does not receive tax funds from local government entities, yet last year provided more than $14 million in charity care and absorbed millions more in bad debt. In addition, ECM provides over $100,000 in lab services each year to the Northwest Alabama Community Health Association. ECM has a significant impact on the economy of our region. As the area's largest employer, with more than 1,500 employees, we provide an annualized payroll and benefits in excess of $77 million each year. This is money that goes directly back into our local economy through the purchase of goods and services while generating tax dollars for our local communities.
